Nandan Nilekani, KP Singh, Nikhil Kamath. These are the names of those Indian stalwarts who donated generously and became among the great philanthropists and philanthropists of Asia. We are talking about Asia Heroes of Philanthropy List.Forbes has released the 17th list of Asia Heroes of Philanthropy list. This list includes names like Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, DLF honorary chairman KP Singh.This list of Forbes includes the names of 15 philanthropists from Asia. It does not include CSR except in privately owned companies.
Forbes issued a press release saying, ‘This unranked list includes those people who are donating a large part of their earnings.’ Let us know about our Heroes of Philanthropy.
KP Singh- Rs 730 crore
Honorary Chairman of DLF KP Singh is also one of the top donors. He launched KP Singh Foundation Trust and KP Singh Charitable Foundation Trust in 2020. In 2020 itself, he left the post of chairman in DLF. He donated Rs 7.3 billion i.e. Rs 730 crore by selling his stake in the real estate firm. KP Singh, owner of a net worth of US$14 billion, now spends his time in London and Dubai.
Nandan Nilekani- Rs 400 crore
Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani donated Rs 315 crore to IIT Bombay in June this year, which reflects his 50-year association with the institute. It was from here that he did his graduation in Electrical Engineering. This amount will be given in 5 years.
Even before this he had donated Rs 85 crore to IIT Bombay. If both donations are added, the amount donated to IIT Bombay is Rs 400 crore. This is the largest donation given by any of its alumni to any institution in the country.
Nikhil Kamath- Rs 1 crore
Nikhil Kamath, founder of discount broking firm Zerodha, has also made it to the Forbes philanthropy list. He joined the Giving Pledge Initiative in June this year. In his affidavit, he had said that he is donating to deal with problems like climate change, energy, education and health.
Forbes said, ‘Kamath’s YouTube podcast series ‘WTF Is’ is offering up to Rs 1 crore (US$ 120,000). This amount has been given by Kamath and the guest business leaders of his show to a charity chosen by the audience.
Kamath has assets worth approximately US $ 1.1 billion. They are planning to donate up to Rs 4 crore.
