AGEL (Adani Green Energy) has now become the world’s second-largest solar PV developer. The list of the world’s largest solar PV developers has been released in the annual global report of Mercom Capital Group.
In this, India’s Adani Green Energy has been placed second after France’s Total Energies. Only Adani Green from Asia has got a place in this list.
According to the report, due to AGEL’s excellent performance and contribution in the renewable energy sector, it has been ranked second among the world’s leading solar PV developers. With a total solar capacity of 18.1 GW including operational, under construction and awarded (PPA-contracted) projects, AEGL has established a strong presence in the global solar energy sector. France’s Total Energies is at the first position with a capacity of 41.3 GW.
What did Gautam Adani say?
Commenting on the ranking, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said, ‘We are committed to large-scale manufacturing of renewable energy, building indigenous integrated manufacturing ecosystem and green hydrogen. “The investment of $75 billion for our energy transition initiatives, under the Adani portfolio, will advance our vision of 45 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and further strengthen AEGL’s significant contribution to India’s transition to decarbonization.”
He also expressed his views on social media platform X. He said, ‘We are happy to see Mercom Capital’s recent rankings, placing us second globally among the world’s large-scale solar PV developers. This recognition underscores our continued and unwavering commitment as one of the fastest growing renewable energy players in the world and on target to achieving our ambitious goal of 45 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030.’
