The people of Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum, will get a new flat of 350 square feet after redevelopment. Adani Group has got the responsibility of redevelopment of Dharavi from Maharashtra Government.
On Monday, Adani Group issued a statement saying that it has offered new flats of 350 square feet to the slum residents. These flats will be 17% larger than the old slum redevelopment projects in Mumbai.
Attached kitchen and bathroom will also be available
Adani Group said in a statement that in the earlier slum redevelopment project, houses of 269 square feet were provided, but Adani Group will provide houses of 350 square feet to the residents of Dharavi. There will also be an attached toilet in this new house.
After the redevelopment of Dharavi, there will also be a community hall, entertainment area, public park, hospital for the people. Even day-care centers will be built to take care of children.
Who will be the eligible residents?
According to PTI report, January 1, 2000 has been fixed as the last date for eligible residents of Dharavi. That means, all the people who have been living here since January 1, 2000, will be considered eligible residents of Dharavi and they will be given new flats by Adani Group.
Let us tell you that Dharavi Redevelopment Project has been created as a joint venture between Maharashtra Government and Adani Group, under which Adani Group will develop the slum into a modern city. This contract was awarded to Adani Group in November 2022.
