Apple iPhone has snatched the crown from Samsung in terms of sales in 2023. This is the first time since 2010 that a company has become number one in terms of sales by replacing South Korea’s leading phone maker.
According to research firm IDC, Apple sold 235 million phones last year. While Samsung’s sales declined to 226.6 million. Samsung stood at second place. Whereas Xiaomi Corp stood at third place.
Talking about market share, Apple is at number one with 20.1 market share. Its market share has increased by 1.3% in 2023. Apple’s market share in 2022 was around 18.8%. Whereas Samsung’s market share has decreased by 2.3% from 21.7% to 19.4% in the year 2023. In fact, the company has benefited from Apple’s aggressive marketing.

But Apple lags behind in China
There has been a decline in sales of the latest generation iPhone in China. Some analysts believe that this decline may increase further.
The biggest challenge to iPhone in China is from local phone maker Huawei. After US sanctions, Huawei’s access to Taiwan’s processors fell. But with the new release of Mate 60, Huawei has regained its ground. Mate 60 is running on made-in-China processor.
