ArcelorMittal Executive Chairman Lakshmi Mittal on Wednesday said the company will build the world’s largest steel manufacturing plant in Hazira, Gujarat by 2029. Speaking at the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) held here, Mittal said the capacity of the factory will be 24 million tonnes per annum.
He said that at the summit ArcelorMittal has signed an MoU with the Gujarat government for the second phase of Hazira plant.
Mittal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had performed the bhoomi pujan of the first phase of the Hazira plant in 2021. Construction is underway with a scheduled opening in 2026.
