Vehicle sales have touched record highs in November. According to auto sales data released by FADA (Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations of India), a total of 28.54 lakh vehicles were sold in November. This sale also crossed the level of March 2020. A total of 25.69 lakh vehicles were sold in March 2020.
On annual basis, a growth of 18% has been recorded in November. Whereas on monthly basis there has been a record growth of 35%. On annual basis, 2-wheeler has registered a growth of 21%, 3-wheeler has registered a growth of 23% and passenger vehicle has registered a growth of 17%.
2-wheeler and PV sales at all-time high
2-wheeler and passenger vehicles have created a new all-time high. A total of 22.47 lakh 2-wheelers were sold in November, which broke the record of 20.7 lakh vehicle sales held in March 2020. Whereas in the passenger vehicle category, 2.6 lakh vehicle units were sold in November, which broke the record of 3.57 lakh sales in this category in October 2022.
As mentioned above, there was a record growth of 18% in 2-wheeler on annual basis and 49% on monthly basis.
What is the reason
According to FADA, the main reason for this is the festive and marriage season. A record 38 lakh marriages are to take place between 23 November and 15 December. This demand was very high especially in rural areas.
November Auto Sales Figures (YoY)
2-wheeler sales up 21.08% to 22,47,366 units.
3-wheeler sales up 23.31% to 99,890 units.
Passenger vehicle sales increased by 17.19% to 3,60,431 units.
Tractor sales declined 21.28% to 61,969 units.
Commercial vehicle sales declined 1.82% to 84,586 units.
Total sales increased by 18.46% to 28,54,242 units.
