Cyclonic storm ‘Hamoon’ has turned into a severe cyclone, but it is not expected to have any major impact in Odisha as it will cross the state coast at a distance of about 200 kilometers.
“‘Hamoon’ is expected to intensify into a more severe cyclonic storm in the next few hours as it moves across the Bay of Bengal at a speed of 21 km per hour,” the IMD said in a bulletin.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, ‘The cyclone passing through the sea will be about 200 kilometers away from the Odisha coast. Therefore, apart from light to moderate rain in the coastal areas of the state, there is no possibility of any major impact there.
