At least six people died in a massive fire that broke out in a gloves factory in the Waluj MIDC area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra on the morning of December 31. The workers told that the factory was closed and they were sleeping in the premises when the fire broke out at around 1.15 am. “We received a call at 1:15 am. When we reached the site, the entire factory was on fire. Our officials went inside and recovered bodies of six people,” fire officer Mohan Mungse told news agency ANI.”
Officials said that the exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
Fire officer Mohan Mungse told ANI that we received information about the fire through a phone call at around 1:15 am. When we reached the spot, we saw that the factory was on fire.
Mohan Mungse said that local people informed us that 6 people are trapped inside the factory. The officers immediately went inside but those six people were dead. We have recovered 6 bodies from the spot.
Mohan Mungse further said, at present the fire brigade personnel are trying to control the fire. The fire will be controlled soon.
Officials said that the exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
The workers said that when the fire broke out, about 10-15 people were sleeping inside and the factory was closed. As soon as the fire broke out, some people ran away and about 5-6 people got trapped inside the factory.
“The information about the incident was first received in the control room at 1:15 pm. ACP immediately reached the spot on night round. The fire was brought under control by about 3:30 pm. He said that after the completion of the investigation, the reason for the fire will be revealed”, Police Commissioner Manoj Lohia says this on the incident of fire in the factory.
