A bus caught fire after colliding with a dumper in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday (27 December) night, killing at least 12 people and leaving 14 others seriously injured. The incident took place near Duhai temple of Bajrang Garh.
NDTV quoted officials as saying that a private bus and a dumper collided head-on on Guna-Aaron Road. He said that the injured were taken to Guna District Hospital for treatment.
When did the incident happen?
Guna district superintendent of police told PTI that 12 bus passengers died and 14 others were injured in the fire.
Police said that when the accident occurred around 9 pm, the ill-fated bus was going towards Aaron, while the dumper was going towards Guna.
There were around 30 passengers in the bus at the time of the incident and four of them somehow managed to get out of the bus and went home.

Chief Minister announced compensation
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief and announced an assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. The Chief Minister also ordered an investigation into the accident.
Meanwhile, in a message on X, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia described the incident as “painful” and said, “As soon as I got information about the incident, I spoke to the Collector and the SP and directed them to launch relief and rescue operations. ” Scindia has also expressed grief over the demise of the passengers.
What did the passengers say about the situation they saw?
Vinita Ojha, a passenger who came out of the bus safely, said that the bus was hit by a dumper from the front and the bus overturned, after which it caught fire.

Passenger Mohan Singh who was injured in the accident said that I am coming from Guna, live in Aaron. This incident happened around 8.30 pm. After hitting a truck, the bus overturned and caught fire. The entire bus was full of passengers. Many people have been burnt.
According to Ankit, another passenger who was injured in the accident, there were about 30 people in the bus and he also rescued many passengers from the burning bus. He also alleged that both the driver and conductor of the bus were drunk. According to him, the bus driver has died in the accident.
During the incident, most of the passengers saved themselves by breaking the glass of the bus and managed to get out. He was taken to the district hospital with the help of an ambulance. The passengers who managed to survive the fire looked frightened. There was an outcry on the spot and along with it, administration and police officials continued to arrive.
