According to the Indian Express report, a new security camp was set up on Tuesday in Tekalgudem village located on the Bijapur-Sukma border to keep an eye on Naxalite activities, so that the people of the area can get basic facilities.
After setting up the camp, when CoBRA/STF/DRG forces were carrying out anti-Naxal operations in Jonaguda-Aliguda area, the Naxalites opened fire on them. After the encounter the Naxalites ran away hiding in the forest.

Earlier this month, security forces had set up two police camps inside the forest in the district, considered a core Naxalite area. The Indian tricolor was hoisted for the first time in Sukma-Bijapur area on Republic Day.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently chaired a review meeting with all stakeholders on Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, where he said the Maoist threat must end in the next three years.
There have been many attacks on security personnel in the last few months. During the elections held in the state in December, two security personnel were martyred in three separate IED attacks by Naxalites. Another soldier was seriously injured.
