As soon as the results of the Assembly Elections 2023 were declared, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not only acquired the right to form the government in two new states, but now it can rule more than 41 percent of the country’s population on its own. Is going to do, and if we talk about governance in terms of alliance partners, then BJP is now ruling more than half of the country’s population. In contrast, the so-called ‘dominant’ opposition party Congress has ruled over only 8.51 percent of the country’s population on its own, although with the help of its alliance partners it has power over 19.84 percent of Indians.
The official data of the country’s population can be obtained only through the census, hence the figures you will read here will be old, but the population percentage of each state will also be given in relation to the old population of the country. So, if we first see how BJP rules more than half of the country’s population, then first of all let us see where it is ruling on its own. At present, BJP has its own government in 12 states of the country – Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Tripura, Manipur, Goa and Arunachal Pradesh. Now if we look at the 2011 census, at that time 16.51 percent of India’s population resided in Uttar Pradesh, so even today we assume that the same percentage of the country’s increased population would reside here.
BJP rules over 41.51% of the population.
In this respect, 16.51% of the country’s population is in UP, 6% in MP, 5.66% in Rajasthan, 4.99% in Gujarat, 2.58% in Assam, 2.11% in Chhattisgarh, 2.09% in Haryana, 0.83% in Uttarakhand. Percentage, 0.3 percent lives in Tripura, 0.21 percent in Manipur, 0.12 percent in Goa and 0.11 percent in Arunachal Pradesh, and thus BJP is ruling the total 41.51 percent population of the country on its own.
Apart from these 12 states, the Bharatiya Janata Party is also ruling Maharashtra (9.28 percent), Meghalaya (0.25 percent), Nagaland (0.16 percent) and Sikkim (0.05 percent) through alliance with a total of 9.74 percent population. And overall, BJP has ruled more than half of the country, i.e. 51.25 percent of the population.
