In these reports, a different type of pneumonia has been detected in children in northern China, which has not yet been diagnosed.
Ask for test results from Chinese officials
WHO has asked for additional clinical information and test results from Chinese authorities. This is the first winter in China after the removal of strict restrictions related to the Corona epidemic. And this winter has had a very bad effect on children.
According to reports in local media, there has been an increase in cases of myco plasma infection among children studying in kindergarten and primary school. Due to this, mild cold is being seen in children and adults of slightly older age. Pneumonia is occurring in small children, the symptoms of which last for several weeks.
Influenza positivity rate increased in October
Data from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention shows that there has been a steady increase in the influenza positivity rate in October. The Covid rate continues to decline. According to the report, the myco plasma positivity rate in children has increased to 40% in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, China’s top medical center for respiratory diseases. Whereas in adults it is only 6%.
The vice dean of the hospital warned that myco plasma causes a large-scale disease outbreak every three to seven years.
The National Health Commission, China’s top health regulator, is working to increase the capacity of local clinics to treat this infection. More people have started wearing masks in the subway trains of China’s capital Beijing. Teachers in schools have told parents not to send their children to school if they have symptoms of these diseases.
