The Union Ministry of Heavy Industries has started investigating the problems faced by Ola Electric Mobility Limited customers regarding their services. The ministry has sent a letter to the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and has sought inputs on more than 10,000 complaints filed against India’s largest electric scooter (E-Scooter) manufacturer.
People familiar with the matter told NDTV Profit that Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy has personally asked officials to look into the matter. They spoke on condition of anonymity, citing that the letter is confidential.
Benefits are available under FAME-II and PM e-drive schemes
Under the FAME-II and PM e-Drive schemes, every OEM has to maintain service centres for customer issues. The Heavy Industries Ministry in a letter to ARAI said that warranty is also provided under both these schemes offered by all OEMs.
The letter further states that Ola Electric is a beneficiary under the scheme which has been issued a Certificate of Eligibility by ARAI under FAME-II and PM e-Drive. Therefore, you are requested to respond to MHI on these matters as soon as possible.
Prior to this move by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, on 3 October 2024, the Central Consumer Protection Authority had issued a show cause notice to Ola Electric.
