Pakistan on Tuesday conducted a successful training test of the Ghauri weapon system, a week after flight testing the ballistic missile Ababeel weapon system. The objective of the test is to test the operational and technical readiness of the Army Strategic Forces Command (ASFC).
The test was monitored by Commander ASFC, senior officers of strategic forces, scientists and engineers of the strategic organisation.
Tuesday’s training test of the Ghauri weapon system took place a few days after the US imposed sanctions on three Chinese companies over the supply of items related to Pakistan’s ballistic missile programme.
China has been the main supplier of arms and defense equipment to Islamabad’s military modernization programme.
Pakistan President Arif Alvi, interim Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar and military chiefs congratulated the participating soldiers, scientists and engineers on the success of the training test. Earlier on October 18, Pakistan had successfully flight tested the Ababeel weapon system.
