Hours after US President Joe Biden’s administration informed Parliament about the decision to sell 31 MQ-9B armed drones to India at an estimated cost of US $ 3.99 billion, the US’s cooperation with India Partnership is one of the most important relationships.
“I would say that our partnership with India is one of our most important relationships,” US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at his daily press conference. We are working closely with India on our important priorities.
“We have a close working relationship with (India’s outgoing) Ambassador (Taranjit Singh Sandhu),” Miller said. We have worked with him on many shared priorities. India plays an important role in ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific region that is connected (to other regions), prosperous, secure and resilient.”

He said, “We wish him all the best in his future and look forward to welcoming the next diplomat to take over as ambassador.” Miller said in response to a question that the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s communication with his Indian counterpart S. We have a close working relationship with Jaishankar and have been able to negotiate on some of the most important and critical priorities.
He said, “Foreign Minister (Blinken) has visited India and met the Foreign Minister (Jaishankar) several times. Blinken has also welcomed Jaishankar here. He met him in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The US on Thursday approved the sale of 31 MQ-9B armed drones to India at an estimated cost of USD 3.99 billion. This will enhance India’s capability to deal with present and future threats through unmanned surveillance and reconnaissance patrolling of sea lanes. This drone deal was announced during the historic state visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2023.
