Food safety regulator FSSAI has issued a show cause notice to the country’s largest airline IndiGo for serving unsafe food to a passenger. A few days ago, a worm was found in the sandwich given to a passenger during a flight.
The airline has confirmed that it has received a show cause notice from the food regulator and will respond as per protocol.
What is the whole matter
This case is Delhi-Mumbai flight number 6E 6107 of December 29, 2023. When the passenger shared the video of finding a worm in his sandwich on social media, it went viral. After that Indigo apologized to the passenger.
When the matter came to the notice of food safety regulator FSSAI, it sent a show cause notice to IndiGo on January 2, 2024, asking why its license should not be suspended or canceled and the Food Safety and Standards Act for serving unsafe food to passengers during flight. Under this, action should be initiated against him. Indigo has been given seven days to respond to the show cause notice.
IndiGo spokesperson said that we have received a show cause notice from FSSAI regarding the food served in Delhi-Mumbai flight number 6E 6107. We will respond to this notice as per protocol.
Last week, a worm was found in a sandwich given to a passenger, Khushboo Gupta. He made a video of it and shared it on the social media platform Instagram. Indigo apologized to the passenger on this incident and said that they are investigating the matter.
