In view of the huge delays in airlines’ flights due to extremely bad weather and fog at Delhi Airport, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Monday set some guidelines (SOPs) for the airlines.
Recently, due to delay in flights, a crowd of passengers had gathered at the airport, many passengers had also expressed their displeasure over the mismanagement of the airlines. These SOPs have been issued to deal with the problems faced by passengers due to flight delays or flight cancellations and any kind of chaos and disturbance at the airport.
DGCA’s SOPs for airlines
These SOPs issued by DGCA come after the incident in which a passenger, angry over the delay in the flight of IndiGo in Delhi, attacked the pilot. Aviation regulator DGCA has told airlines that –
- Airlines should make their staff at the airport more sensitive so that they can communicate better with the air passengers and keep informing and guiding them continuously in case of flight delays.
- Now airlines will have to publish accurate real-time information about flight delays. Which the airlines will have to post on their website and send to the passengers in advance through SMS, WhatsApp and e-mail.
- Airlines are also required to print a reference to Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) on flight tickets. It will be mandatory for all airlines to follow the provisions of CAR.
In the release issued by DGCA, it has been said that in view of the current weather conditions and fog, airlines can prematurely cancel such flights which are expected to be delayed by more than 3 hours, so that the congestion at the airport is reduced and the passengers can travel safely. Have less discomfort.
