Cabinet Briefing: Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) has been extended for 5 years. After the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur gave this information in the press briefing on Wednesday. He said that this scheme will benefit the country’s population of about 81 crores.
About Rs 11.80 lakh crore will be spent on this scheme in the next 5 years. This decision will be applicable for the next 5 years from January 1, 2024.
Under this scheme, 5 kg of grain is given free of cost per person every month, this is in addition to the 35 kg of grain available at nominal rates under the Antyodaya scheme.
₹24,100 crore will be spent on Jan Man Yojana
In the Union Cabinet meeting, PM Tribal Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan was also approved, which is also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan-Man Yojana (PM Janman Scheme). Rs 24,100 crore will be spent on this scheme, out of which Rs 15,300 crore will be spent by the Central Government, while the remaining amount will be spent by the State Government.
This scheme will be implemented in 18 states, which will benefit more than 28 lakh tribals. Under this scheme, basic facilities like housing, road connectivity, water, mobile medical unit, solar street lighting will be provided to the tribals.
‘Drone’ scheme also approved
Anurag Thakur said that the Cabinet has also approved a central scheme to provide drones to 15,000 women self-help groups (SHGs) for 2 years, on which Rs 1,261 crore will be spent.
The Union Minister said, ‘The objective of this scheme is to provide drones to 15,000 selected women self-help groups during 2024-25 and 2025-2026, so that they can rent them for farming related needs.’
Under this scheme, 15,000 SHGs approved will get permanent employment and livelihood support. With this, women will be able to earn additional income of at least Rs 1,00,000 per year.
Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address on Independence Day on August 15 this year, had announced to empower SHGs through drone technology.
Decision on fast track court also
The Union Cabinet headed by PM Modi has also approved the recommendations of the 16th Finance Commission. The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Fast Track Special Court scheme for 3 years for speedy trial of cases related to rape and POCSO Act.
