Former chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Naval Tata, has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 86. Ratan Tata was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Breach Candy Hospital for some time. He breathed his last there.

Ratan Tata was the biggest personality in the current Indian industrial world. He became the President of Tata Sons, the holding company of Tata Group, one of India’s largest and most influential groups, in 1991 and led the group until 2012. Former chairman of Tata Group, Ratan Tata was an example of both business and social service in India.
During his tenure, the Tata Group expanded globally. He acquired major companies such as the tea company Tetley, the steel company Corus and the automobile company Jaguar-Land Rover. These acquisitions transformed the Tata Group from a domestic firm to a global powerhouse.
Under the leadership of Ratan Tata, the group launched the world’s cheapest car Nano. Established and expanded Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as a global IT leader. In 2004, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was also listed in the market.
Ratan Tata resigned as chairman in 2012, though he returned briefly as interim chairman in 2016 during a leadership dispute with Cyrus Mistry.

Born on 28 December 1937, Ratan Tata was the great-grandson of Tata Group founder Jamsetji Tata. He was the chairman of the Tata Group from 1991 to 2012 and was also made interim chairman from October 2016 to February 2017. Ratan remained the head of the Tata Group’s charitable trusts.
Recently, Ratan Tata bought Air India from the government and made it a part of his group.
Gave a statement after the news of his hospitalization
86-year-old Ratan Tata had said three days ago on October 7 that there was nothing to worry about. He had said that he was admitted to the hospital for a medical check-up due to his age and related medical conditions. Tata’s representative had not yet responded to a request for information about his condition on Wednesday.
