Protests regarding railway recruitment have started in Bihar. Students are very angry about the recruitment for Loco Pilot by the Railway Recruitment Board. On Tuesday, January 30, students took out a rally from Bhikhana Hill to Kargil Chowk in the capital Patna and expressed their protest. Students allege that after so many years the vacancies in Railways have been released which are very less. Angry students have demanded to increase the vacancy. During this time the police also lathi-charged the students.
Demand to increase railway vacancy
The protesting candidates say that Railways has announced the recruitment of only 5600 seats for Loco Pilot, which is not enough. Instead, recruitment should have been done on 70 thousand posts. Along with this, the students said that the Railway Board itself had told that they have more than 20 thousand vacant posts. The candidates alleged that Railways is being privatized, that is why such a small number of vacancies have been released.
Police lathi-charged
Police lathi-charged the railway candidates who were protesting at Patna Kargil Chowk. The police chased the students and beat them. Many students have been injured during this period. The students said, “There is so much unemployment in the country, what will happen with 5600 seats? We were protesting peacefully, but still we were beaten up.”
Recruitment for 5,697 posts
Let us tell you that the Railway Recruitment Board has issued recruitment notification for only 5,697 posts for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot.
