Army Truck Ambushed By Terrorists In Jammu and Kashmir: On Thursday, December 21, in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists ambushed a truck carrying army soldiers. In this attack, 3 army soldiers were martyred while 3 soldiers were injured.
This attack was carried out in Dera Ki Gali (DKG) forest area of Surankot tehsil in Poonch. After the attack, the army has cordoned off the area.
This is the second terrorist attack on the army in less than a month. Last month, an anti-terrorist operation was launched by the Army and its special forces in Kalakot, Rajouri. In this action, 4 soldiers including two captains were martyred.
Whereas earlier in April, five army soldiers were martyred in Poonch district when terrorists opened fire on their vehicle.
What did the army tell?
The Army said in its statement, “Based on strong intelligence, a joint operation was launched last night in General Area DKG. Contact has been established this evening and the encounter is ongoing. “Further details are being ascertained.”
At around 3:45 pm, two army vehicles carrying soldiers were heading towards the operational site when the terrorists opened fire. Retaliatory action was also taken by the soldiers.
It is noteworthy that the area between Dehra Ki Gali and Bufliaz is one of the mostly densely forested areas located on the border of Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Was declared terrorism-free in 2011
Rajouri and Poonch were declared “terrorism-free” by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in 2011. But here again an increase in terrorist activities is being seen. More than 35 soldiers have been killed during anti-terrorist operations in the region in the last two years.
Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi had recently said that at least 20-25 terrorists are active at these two places.
